What's New With TNW?!

TNW NEWSLETTER: SPRING '21 EDITION

Welcome friend! Check out TNW's outreach updates, volunteer opportunities, and more!

We know it's been a while and we hope you and your loved ones have been well! So many great things have happened and we can't wait to share them with you!
MOBILE SHOWER PROGRAM
MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT ALERT!!!
Thanks to your support we have purchased our first mobile shower trailer! We could not have done this without your generous donations. Additionally, because of TNW's work to mitigate the hygiene challenges of our neighbors, we received a $10,000 grant as recipients of the Maryland Nonprofit Recovery Initiative (NORI) Grant. This allowed us to reach our $50,000 fundraising goal to launch the mobile shower program!! The trailer is a brand new 2-stall unit and is expected to be delivered soon (don't worry we will share pictures)! We are excited to meet our neighbors where they are with a safe, clean space for them to bathe and groom.

Through the mobile shower program, we hope to
RESTORE HOPE AND DIGNITY,
ONE SHOWER AT A TIME
TNW'S Mobile Shower Program is a critical service for our homeless neighbors now, more than ever. As the number of neighbors experiencing street homelessness increases and services remain limited, our neighbors have even fewer opportunities to maintain good hygiene practices. TNW's mobile shower program will help by providing a refreshing shower experience.

What we're doing to prepare to launch:
  • Learning where the neighbors in need of our services reside throughout the County with the assistance of the Prince George's County Dept. of Social Services Street Outreach Navigator
  • Seeking out partnerships with churches, organizations, and corporations who have an interest in hosting the mobile shower outreach on their property, providing volunteers for program operations, and/or supporting us financially to maintain the program
  • Seeking donations for a 1-ton pick up truck to safely transport the shower trailer unit, new undergarments for our neighbors, and new white towels and washcloths
  • Purchasing materials needed for operations (cleaning supplies, set up supplies, unit parts, etc.)
  • Securing storage for the trailer unit
  • Taking de-escalation training to assist in making sure all guests and volunteers have an enjoyable experience during outreach
  • And so much more!
Here are ways you can stay involved: (1) become a monthly donor, (2) invite your company/organization to become a sponsor or partner, (3) donate time or resources to assist in preparing for the launch, or (4) tell a friend about TNW's Mobile Shower Program

TNW OUTREACH
In partnership with Community Crisis Services, Inc. (CCSI) and Prince George’s County Public Library System (PGPLS), we continue to serve our neighbors in need with blessing bags while offering prayer and encouragement through conversation.
Pictures Left to Right: Omolayo (Founder) chatting with a neighbor at CCSI outreach; Camille (Board Member) delivering blessing bags made by student volunteers to the Hyatsville Branch Library, PGPLS; A neighbor sharing what brings her joy during a CCSI outreach; Helen (TNW volunteer), Kenneth (TNW volunteer), Jazmin (Vice President), and Omolayo praying over the prayer requests written by our neighbors during CCSI outreach.
Our fellowship knows no limits when it comes to reaching our neighbors. We have served those living in underpasses, parks, train stations, shelters, and motels throughout Maryland and D.C. Currently, we are focusing on serving Prince George's County because we will be launching our mobile shower here. If you know of an organization  or church serving our vulnerable neighbors within the County that might be in need of TNW's blessing bags, please email info@theneighborhoodwell.org with the subject line: OUTREACH. In the email please include a contact name and email, as well as, the location. We would love to expand our outreach, while maintaining the safety of our volunteers and our neighbors.
Thank you to all of our donors and volunteers for all your support! With your help we were able to serve over 2,661 neighbors in more than 10 communities within the DMV!
Let's keep it going!
